Streetsboro Bicentennial Celebration Continues

The City of Streetsboro continues the Bicentennial celebrations with a day filled with historic fun for all. Join us on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at the Streetsboro Fire Department for a 5K & Fun Run, Community Cookout, The Big Picture Photo and the burial of the 2022 Bicentennial Time Capsule.

Festivities kick off the Bicentennial day with the Historical Blast 5k & Fun Run throughout the City of Streetsboro starting at 9:00am. Runners and participants for the one-mile Fun Run and 5K will receive a Bicentennial Finisher Medal and a commemorative Historical Blast T-Shirt. Awards to be presented to male and female first and second place winners in All categories. Visit Streetsboro2022.com for registration information and cost.

The afternoon continues, with a city-wide Community Cookout. In celebration of 200-years, the city invites everyone to enjoy complimentary Hot Dogs, Hamburgers and the Bicentennial Birthday Cake from 11am-1pm. Bring your own chairs and enjoy refreshments along with a live DJ and inflatables for the children.

To honor tradition and to create the next piece of history, everyone is invited to be a part of the next 100-year photo in “The Big Picture.” 100 years ago in 1922, the early citizens of Streetsboro gathered for the Centennial celebration Labor Day weekend, at public square (Rt 14/43). The group photo was to include all the citizens of Streetsboro with the Old Methodist Church as the backdrop. The 2022 panoramic group photo will take place at 1:00pm, and will include citizens with the New Fire Station as the backdrop.

In honoring the 200-year celebration and city tradition, The City of Streetsboro will cap off the day at 1:30p with the burial of the 2022 Bicentennial Time Capsule. The Bicentennial Committee is soliciting ideas of items to be placed inside the time capsule. Please email mkuhstos@hotmail.com. The stainless-steel capsule will be buried near the Fire Station, to be unearthed in 2072 during the Semiquincentennial celebrations. The exact burial location will be indicated with a granite marker that will allow citizens to visit for the next 50 years.

Join the City of Streetsboro at the Streetsboro Fire Department, 9184 State Route 43 for a day filled with historic fun for all. Admission is FREE and everyone is invited!
